Earlier this week, we hosted our annual Membership Dinner to celebrate ACWL-Nuveen members. Members have been a part of the ACWL-Nuveen from the very beginning - back in 1986 - 40 years ago! Since September 8, the ACWL-Nuveen has been hosting the regional juried exhibition – Visual Language. The show, which runs until October 24, was juried by Grand Rapids-based curator, Annamarie Buller. All the art for this exhibit employs text, language, words or poetry with the artists creatively incorporating it boldly, quietly or somewhere in-between. The ACWL-Nuveen is once again teaming up with Greenridge Realty to host the Carved Pumpkin Contest at Pumpkinfest, an annual community event hosted by the White Lake Area Chamber of Commerce and Visitor's Bureau. The Arts Council of White Lake - Nuveen Center invites the community to join us in celebration at the dedication of the White Lake Wonders Mural on Friday, October 16th from 4pm to 6pm. As you know, the Sailboat/Trees sculpture by George Ramsay in Covell Park was temporarily removed at the end May. Upon removing the sculpture, we discovered multiple anchor bolts securing the sculpture were rusted. No amount of lubrication or heat was able to loosen or remove them so unfortunately three of the bolts had to be cut. Because of this, we are facing unexpected expenses. The workshop will be led by talented artist and educator Honore Lee. Honore, who is based in Grand Haven, will bring her vast experience as a handmade bookmaker, printmaker and mixed media artist to the class.
