We Love Our Members!

Earlier this week, we hosted our annual Membership Dinner to celebrate ACWL-Nuveen members. Members have been a part of the ACWL-Nuveen from the very beginning - back in 1986 - 40 years ago! Without our new and steadfast members we wouldn't be here to provide inspiring cultural experiences for the White Lake area and greater West Michigan.

This year's dinner was held at the ACWL-Nuveen and catered by our neighbors, Patrick Nulty and Hanson Hill Waterfront Grill. Attendees had a chance to complete an Art Scavenger Hunt, created by Katie Funk featuring artworks on display at the Nuveen Center, before sitting down for dinner. ACWL-Nuveen Director Erin Peyer gave brief updates about the organization, staff, and marketing initiatives.

Following dinner, awards were presented to two volunteers. Kanda Parrott received the Cathy Seggie award for outstanding service to the ACWL-Nuveen. Kanda is a Board Member, an Artist Member, and a member of both the Art Walk Committee and I.D.E.A. Committee. Kanda is always willing to jump into a project and just this year alone, has tackled both the garden in the back of the Nuveen Center and the flower bed in front of the classroom, and created a massive hand-painted backdrop for our Sculpture Garden Shindig. Chester Winowiecki received the Dee Dee Josephson award for outstanding service to the gallery. Chester is currently an ACWL-Nuveen Board Member and has served as chair of the Gallery Committee for about a year and a half. In that time, he has implemented a special Artist Member Newsletter, led two calls for new artist members, gave a framing demo, and helped reorganize and energize the gallery space. We are so grateful to Kanda and Chester for all they have done for the ACWL-Nuveen!

If you missed the dinner this year because you are not a member of the ACWL-Nuveen, join now to make sure you get the invite next year! Memberships start at as little as $35/year and go a long way to support our organization. Plus, members get discounts on gallery purchases and class fees.
