Virtual Puppet Theater

Because of COVID-19 we have had to creatively re-think how to conduct our art education classes at the ACWL-Nuveen. We have been fortunate to offer small scale, in-person classes since re-opening to the public in June, but we also understand the importance of developing online opportunities for community members who don't feel comfortable being in a classroom setting at this time.

We are very pleased to be offering our first virtual class starting October 6 for students ages 7 to 13 - Virtual Puppet Theater! Students enrolled in the class will have the opportunity to create their own felt puppets, write a play, and perform it for family and friends all from the comfort of their home via Zoom! This class will be taught by artist and experienced Zoom teacher, Lillie Sheridan. Lillie Sheridan is a student at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee Peck School of Arts, where she studies Art Education and Community Art. Lillie has an extensive theatre background and is currently teaching at Islands of Brilliance, a non-profit that provides art classes and a safe space for children and young adults on the Autism Spectrum. In her role at Islands of Brilliance, Lillie has been hosting virtual art classes via Zoom since the shutdown. During the lockdown she also made a super fun video for The Actor's Garden which teaches you how to make adorable hats for your furry friends (check it out below!) We welcome Lillie to our talented pool of ACWL-Nuveen artist/teachers and look forward to the live Virtual Puppet Theatre performance!
