Call for Artists: ACWL-Nuveen Juried Exhibition - 2022

Updated: Feb 11, 2022

The Arts Council of White Lake – Nuveen Center is excited to announce a call for artists to submit artwork for the “ACWL-Nuveen Juried Exhibition – 2022” to be held March 18 – April 24. We are casting a wide net for this show, hoping to appeal to a diverse spectrum of artists who are creatively tackling a range of subjects and themes in a variety of mediums. The exhibit is open to artists 18+ working in 2-D, 3-D and digital media with cash prizes awarded by the juror for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, plus a cash ACWL-Nuveen award. Coinciding with the adult exhibition is the K-12 youth division of our annual spring show. Prizes will be awarded by the juror for multiple K-12 youth divisions. Adult artists’ work will be exhibited in the ACWL-Nuveen exhibit space and the youth artwork in our retail gallery. We feel both categories of this exhibit are vital as the ACWL-Nuveen is dedicated to accessibility and believes that creative expression is ageless!

The juror for the 2022 exhibition is artist Mark Rumsey. Mr. Rumsey is a multi-disciplinary artist who has worked in social situations and spatial manipulations. His work has been exhibited throughout the United States as well as internationally. The manifestations of his work take on many forms including site-specific installation, relational engagements, and live performance. Rumsey received his BFA in Ceramics and Philosophy from Grand Valley State University and his MFA in Printmaking from Kendall College of Art & Design of Ferris State University. He has traveled extensively, participating in international residencies in Mexico City, Portugal, Shanghai, China, Austria, Belgium, Turkey and New Delhi, India. http://www.markrumsey.com

To apply to the show, go to the ACWL-Nuveen website – https://www.artswhitelake.org/juried-exhibition The online portal guides artists through the application process. There are also a couple of links for tips on taking good photographs of your artwork. A quality digital image of your artwork is the first impression you make on the juror, so it is very important. Once accepted in the show Mr. Rumsey will award prizes based on viewing the actual artwork in the gallery. We encourage you to submit the best digital representation of your artwork as possible!

We look forward to showcasing a wide range of talent this year and can't wait to see your submissions! If you have questions, stop by 106 E. Colby St., Whitehall, MI, call the ACWL-Nuveen at 231-893-2524, or email Director Erin Peyer – nuveen@artswhitelake.org
