Job Overview

The Arts Council of White Lake-Nuveen Center (ACWL-Nuveen) is a well established nonprofit operating in Whitehall, Michigan. For 40 years the ACWL-Nuveen has inspired the White Lake area through accessible and engaging opportunities in the arts. www.artswhitelake.org

 

The Marketing & Community Engagement Coordinator reports to the Director and plays a key role in building awareness, increasing participation, and strengthening community connections. This position leads social media strategy, supports marketing initiatives, and works with all ACWL-Nuveen staff to promote and execute events and programs throughout the year. 

This is a part-time position (approximately 15–20 hours per week), with a flexible schedule.

Compensation & Benefits

  • $20 - $22/hour, depending on experience

  • 10 paid holidays

  • Eligible for one week of paid vacation following 3-month probationary period

  • Eligible for a SIMPLE IRA after one year of employment

Key Responsibilities

Digital Marketing & Online Presence

  • Create and manage content across Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, including posts, stories, and video 

  • Work with other ACWL-Nuveen staff to plan and execute campaigns to promote events, exhibits, classes, and ACWL-Nuveen initiatives 

  • Design graphics and promotional materials using tools such as Canva 

  • Schedule content, monitor engagement, and interact with the online community 

  • Manage paid social media and print advertising as needed 

  • Maintain and update website content, including event, class, exhibition and fundraising pages 

  • Support online sales and donation platforms 

  • Stay current on digital marketing trends and best practices

 

Community Engagement

  • Capture event photos and share real-time updates on social media

  • Conduct interviews with artists and community members to support storytelling and promotion

  • Help develop sponsorship opportunities and promotional deliverables

 

Team Contribution

  • Provide front desk support, including gallery sales transactions, and open/close the facility as needed

  • Build relationships with local organizations and partners

  • Assist with newsletters, blog content, and sponsorship materials

  • Participate in committee and planning meetings

  • Support event coordination and on-site execution, including setup, teardown, and guest interaction

  • Collaborate with other ACWL-Nuveen staff on marketing materials for events, exhibitions and other programs

 

Required Qualifications

  • Associates degree in a relevant field, plus two years of relevant experience

  • Experience managing social media platforms 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Working knowledge of marketing principles

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associates degree or higher in marketing, communications, or a related field

  • Familiarity with SEO and Google Analytics

  • Experience with Meta Business Suite

  • Proficiency in Canva or similar design tools

  • Experience with fundraising platforms (e.g., Givebutter)

  • Familiarity with CRM systems (e.g., Little Green Light)

  • Experience with website platforms such as Wix, Squarespace, or WordPress
