Last summer, ACWL-Nuveen Fundraising Committee Chair Alice Gambel had a spark of inspiration while browsing the Wabaningo Club's Annual Rummage Sale. Alice came across 27 mid-century chairs for a very reasonable price and decided they would make the perfect art project and fundraiser for the ACWL-Nuveen! After determining a musical theme to coincide with ACWL-Nuveen's annual Music exhibition, area artists were recruited to transform a chair, using music as their muse.
Many artists answered the call and all chairs will be returning to the ACWL-Nuveen in the next few weeks. Beginning Thursday, May 26, the chairs will be on display at the ACWL-Nuveen and other local businesses, such as the White Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, North Grove Brewers, White Lake Community Library, Fetch Brewing Co, Montague Branch Library and more! Chairs will be for sale for $75 and you will be able to purchase them on the spot by scanning a QR code which will take you to the ACWL-Nuveen Website Store.
Any chairs that haven't been purchased by July 15 will be on display at local gardens during this summer's Garden Art Adventure on Saturday, July 16. All proceeds from chair sales will go toward operating funds for the ACWL-Nuveen helping us to continue to bring quality, accessible arts programming to the White Lake community.
