Expressions - 'en plein air' Exhibit Opens

Throughout the month of July, the ACWL-Nuveen hosted multiple classes that encouraged students to create "en plein air" - in the beautiful outdoors. These classes included a Summer Art Camp with Laurel Geis, an Intro to Plein Air workshop with Lori McElrath Eslick, and an Art on the Farm event with an artist demonstration by Mary Jo Ernst and a fabulous lunch prepared by Bone Ends Chef Rusty Morningstar from locally sourced produce from Lundell Farms of North Muskegon. All of these events, and the upcoming exhibit, were made possible by a grant from the R. Covell Radcliffe Fund of the Community Foundation for Muskegon County.

The culmination of all these events is the ACWL-Nuveen Center's first annual open call community exhibition entitled, Expressions - 'en plein air'. Artists of all ages were invited to submit artwork celebrating the beauty of our natural environment and the art of creating in the open air. Artists could submit artwork created outdoors, including sculpture, poetry, fiber art, beach debris collages, and even music! We were very pleased with all the talented artists who responded to this call. This inspiring exhibit will be on display from August 11 through September 26.
