Two years ago, the Arts Council of White Lake-Nuveen Center hosted an exhibition featuring artwork from Michigan-based Urban Sketchers groups. The excitement of the Urban Sketchers movement and fellowship created by the exhibit spurred a more ambitious idea: to host a GLOBAL Urban Sketchers exhibit and invite Urban Sketchers from around the world to participate.
Working in conjunction with ACWL-Nuveen Artist Member and Instructor, Mary Jo Ernst - who is also a North American Regional Team Leader and Membership Committee member for Urban Sketchers - we are delighted to announce a call for original, 4" x 6" sketches for Wish You Were Here: Urban Sketchers Global Exhibition, September 13 - November 2, 2024. Artists who are members of an Urban Sketchers group may submit up to three original pieces that abide by the Urban Sketchers Vision & Values. Pieces may be listed as not for sale or priced at $30. A percentage of all sales will be distributed between the Artist, the ACWL-Nuveen for programming, and to the global Urban Sketchers organization.
To learn more about this exhibit and how to submit your artwork, please visit our website. Artworks must be mailed or delivered to the ACWL-Nuveen by Saturday, August 31, 2024.
In conjunction with the exhibition, the ACWL-Nuveen will be hosting two classes led by Urban Sketchers West Michigan administrators, Marcia Schrotenboer and Ann G. Rusky, a public reception from 1:00-3:00 on Saturday, September 14, and an Urban Sketchers Day on Saturday, October 26.

The Urban Sketchers Day will include an 11:00am artist demonstration from Brian Wright, a Chicago-based architect, and an afternoon sketch walk around the White Lake area. Everyone is invited to participate in this FREE art filled day!
