ACWL-Nuveen Director, Erin Peyer, was named as one of five finalists for the 2023 Lakeshore Innovator of the Year. Presented by Grand Valley State University's Muskegon Innovation Hub, finalists are chosen from a pool of nominees throughout Muskegon County. Alongside Erin Peyer, this year's finalists included the following:
- Mike Franzak: City of Muskegon Housing Development
- Samantha Otto: The Woven Trifecta
- Leo McCormick, Sean McManus, Tom Michalak: Grand Valley State University Facilities Service Energy Engineering Team
- Lisa Spaugh: EZ Beach Steps

All of the finalists and many community members gathered at the Muskegon Innovation Hub on Thursday, July 27 for the awards presentation. There was food, drink, live music, and a keynote speech from the 2022 Lakeshore Innovator of the Year, Nick Carlson of Goodwill Industries. Following a presentation that highlighted the work of each finalist, Lisa Spaugh of EZ Beach Steps was named the 2023 Innovator of the Year. Each finalist recieved an award created at the Lakeshore Fab lab and a cash prize.
