2022 Free Concert Series July Artists

Ready to put on your dancing shoes and join us at the bandshell this month?!? Learn more about each of our upcoming artists below. Concerts are held at the Montague-Whitehall Rotary Bandshell on Tuesday evenings at 7:00pm, with Montague High School as our designated rain location.* Join us to celebrate the 36th year of Free Summer Concerts!

A huge thank you to our individual sponsors and especially our series sponsors, CatchMark Technologies, New Standard Dispensary, Carmichael Heating & Air Conditioning and the Michael James family, for making the 2022 season possible.

Tuesday, July 5 is our annual collaboration with the West Michigan Wine and Jazz Festival. This year's concert will feature Edye Evans Hyde who has been making music for over 40 years. Hyde is also an actor and the founder of Ebony Road Players in Grand Rapids - a theater company that strives to 'inspire, educate and engage the cultures of our community with high-quality theater productions focused on the Black experience.'

* Please note the rain location for this concert is the Book Nook and Java Shop.

The following week - July 12 - we'll be welcoming Magic Bus, which always brings out the biggest crowd of the summer! Sponsored by Harborlight Credit Union and Stan & Jan Gorecki, this entertaining group will transport you to the late sixties with a psychedelic ride on their magic bus. If you want a parking spot near the bandshell, we recommend you arrive early! Parking near the Farmers Market or a little further downtown and walking (or biking!) in is also a great idea.

On July 19, we'll be welcoming a local group - Oat Bran Boys (sponsored by the City of Whitehall). Made up of John King on guitar, Rich King on bass, and Dan Seabolt on fiddle, this trio wows audiences with lively acoustic bluegrass, country, swing and folk. They haven't performed much since 2020, so we encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity!

Closing out the month on July 26 is Jesse Ray and the Carolina Catfish (sponsored by North Grove Brewers). A rockabilly and Americana duo based out of Grand Rapids, these two also put on a fantastic show. If you need proof, check out this video of their song 'Two Face Talkin'.
