Class Description
Ages 8-12 $12, $10.80 for ACWL Members Students will learn the basics of printmaking by carving into rubber to create their own stamps. Once their stamps have been carved, students will then print them on paper. Printmaking can be used to create unique paper patterns or special one-of-a-kind artworks. Going through the process of creating and then printing their stamp, students will gain an understanding of design layout and learn how to use line to emphasize a pattern. Minimum: 4 Maximum: 12 About the Instructor: Casey Bemis has lived in the Whitehall area for over 10 years, working in her studio in the quiet woods just a few miles from Lake Michigan. Much of the work is inspired by nature, geometry and science. Utilizing her undergraduate degree in painting, she draws directly on sheets of metal to be etched and then made into unique jewelry. She also paints and finds some time to work on several novels. ACWL-Nuveen Summer Art Classes are supported by the Lothmann Family Fund of the Community Foundation for Muskegon County.
