
Summer Art: Mixed Media Portraits
Working from a photograph, students will build a fun portrait using a variety of mixed media.

Class Description
Ages 12-18 $12, $10.80 for ACWL Members Don't be scared of portraits! Creating artwork of your self, friends or family can be creative and exciting. In this class we will start with a photograph, and build a fun portrait using a variety of mixed media. "Break apart a face" and put it back together using parts of the photo, ink, paint, pencil, collage, etc. Instruction will be given on how to use various materials, and direction will be provided on how to develop creative and artistic ideas. Students should have a reference photo to use - please email your photo to nuveen@artswhitelake.org before the class. Minimum: 4 Maximum: 8 About the Instructor: Laurel Geis has lived in the White Lake area for 29 years. She taught Art in public schools for 30 years before retiring. She is an active artist, working primarily in painting and drawing, and her work has been widely exhibited in sites like the Muskegon Museum of Art and the Arts Council of White Lake - Nuveen Center ACWL-Nuveen Summer Art Classes are supported by the Lothmann Family Fund of the Community Foundation for Muskegon County.

Cancellation Policy
Please note - Registration for classes is required, unless otherwise noted. You may register online, by calling (231) 893-2524 or visiting the ACWL-Nuveen. Please enroll in classes at least 48 hours before the scheduled class time. Courses cancelled due to insufficient enrollment will be 100% refunded. You can cancel your registration up to 3 days in advance of the class date. If you withdraw from a class less than 3 days before the class, you will be given a class credit.
