Class Description
Ages 12-18 $12, $10.80 for ACWL Members Poetry is everywhere, just waiting for you to find it. In this class, students will create visually striking found poetry in the form of collages and centos that use the work of other writers to express their own thoughts and emotions. No poetic experience necessary! Just come ready to cut, paste, and collage your way to a work of literary art. Minimum: 4 Maximum: 12 About the Instructor: Dr. Caitlin Cowan has taught writing for almost 20 years at all levels and at various institutions, including the University of North Texas, Interlochen Center for the Arts, and Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, where she founded the Creative Writing program. She is the author of Solitary (YesYes Books, 2027) & Happy Everything (Cornerstone Press, 2024) and is currently seeking representation for her nonfiction debut. Of her work, award-winning poet B. H. Fairchild has written, "Her language is rich and often deeply witty, seducing the reader into the poem's embrace, its song of life, a life fully lived on at least eleven different levels." You can learn more about her at caitlincowan.com. ACWL-Nuveen Summer Art Classes are supported by the Lothmann Family Fund of the Community Foundation for Muskegon County.
