
Spring Break Art: Food-themed Clay Jars
Create a food-themed jar using fruits, vegetables, and snacks as inspiration.
Class Description
Ages 6-10 In this exciting two-day camp, kids will create fun food-themed lidded containers using fruits, vegetables, and snacks to inspire their designs. They'll ll learn about what makes a functional lidded jar and how to make it out of clay using coil building techniques. To finish off their jars they will learn how to apply colorful glazes to enhance their designs. Day 1: Design and build containers Day 2: Glaze/Paint Students pieces will need be fired following the completion of class. We will contact you once their project is ready to be picked up! Minimum: 4 Maximum: 7 About the Instructor: Like many great love stories, Kim’s love for ceramics began in high school. She loved the limitless dynamics of the art form, and it’s been her passion ever since. Recently,  she’s been apprenticing with Peter "The Potter" Johnson, the local master potter working at Terrestrial Forming in Whitehall. She’s now excited to begin her own journey creating and teaching pottery to other art lovers. Please note - Registration for classes is required, unless otherwise noted. You may register online, by calling (231) 893-2524 or visiting the ACWL-Nuveen. Please enroll in classes at least 48 hours before the scheduled class time. Courses cancelled due to insufficient enrollment will be 100% refunded. You can cancel your registration up to 3 days in advance of the class date. If you withdraw from a class less than 3 days before the class, you will be given a class credit.
