Class Description

Ages 16+ $30, $27 for ACWL Members Watercolor and Gouache (opaque watercolor) are similar yet different. Join us to explore these 2 mediums and discover how they can work together, using flowers and plants as our subject matter. We will take a flexible approach to the image; we will work from photographs and live material, but your vision may be as loose or detailed as your choose. First, using watercolor, we will block in basic shapes using loose wash techniques. Next, we will explore how to use gouache paint, and apply it to add definition and detail on top of our prior painting. Students will leave with a finished painting, and an understanding of the basics of these 2 materials and their working qualities. This class is suitable for all students, although some prior experience in drawing or painting is helpful.
