We can probably all agree that 2021 dished out an array of challenges for individuals, families and communities both locally and globally. With January 2022 in full swing, we at the ACWL-Nuveen are ready to welcome a new year with optimism and hope. We figure that hope is free, so why not share our good vibes in the dark winter month of January to brighten our spirits and bring good fortune.
We invite the community to help us shine a bright light on 2022 by participating in a
community-wide art exhibition - January 6 – 29 - where we will be displaying individuals’ wishes and hopes in a mixed-media installation. Using donated materials that we have received from generous community members; we will be creating multiple hand-painted and inscribed streamers with wishes and inspiring quotes and suspend them from the gallery ceiling. In the spirit of Tibetan prayer flags, these suspended wishes are intended to diffuse the good thoughts and prayers into the atmosphere and help spread positivity. Who doesn’t need more of that?!
We invite all of our multi-generational community members to participate - it is easy and simple. You can stop by the ACWL-Nuveen during open hours and submit your written wish into our “wishing well” or use one of our other public drop boxes found in public locations in Whitehall and Montague. You can also submit your wish(es) via this google form! Once we get your written wish our volunteers will transcribe them onto paper streamers and include them in our growing and flowing exhibition.
For more information or ways to participate please give us a call – 231-893-2524. Let’s ring in a positive 2022 and make a wish!
