Call for Artists: ACWL-Nuveen Emerging Artists of Color Residency

Attention young artists of Color seeking quality studio time, the ACWL-Nuveen has an excellent opportunity for you! If you are a Muskegon County artist between the ages of 16-20 and you identify as Black, Indigenous, or as a Person of Color and are currently creating

2-Dimensional artwork – we invite you to apply to our first annual Emerging Artists of Color Residency. The two-week paid residency in August, generously sponsored by an anonymous donor, will provide the selected artist with a studio space, art materials, and up to 48 hours of dedicated time to work on a visual art project of their choice. The residency is a great opportunity to build your portfolio, experiment and hone your skills.

The chosen artist will receive a $500 stipend and mentoring from ACWL-Nuveen Artist Member, Lester White – https://www.instagram.com/lawdesignz. Mr. White is a Grand Rapids-based artist of Color who works in multiple mediums with a special interest in still life, portrait and abstract painting. He enjoys working with aspiring artists – teaching them how to create a successful portrait and making abstract painting approachable. We are excited to have Mr. White share his skills and expertise as an artist and entrepreneur with new emerging talent and with the broader community in a painting workshop held at the ACWL-Nuveen this August.
