About the event
Join instructor Casey Bemis to create a painting of your pet. When you register you will be asked to email a picture of your pet to nuveen@artswhitelake.org by September 18. Your submitted photo will be sketched onto a canvas ready for finishing touches the day of the event. Images may be cropped to best fit the canvas. For tips on choosing the best photo, visit https://www.artswhitelake.org/pet-painting-photo-suggestions
A portion of your ticket will go toward the Jaeger Foundation, which works to provide service dogs for veterans and first responders.  https://www.thejaegerfoundation.org/
In case of bad weather, we will NOT be able to move the class into the brewery. We will notify participants by 3:00pm on September 22 if class will be rescheduled due to weather. We have set aside Tuesday, September 29 as a rain date.Â
About the Instructor:
Casey Bemis is a multi-talented artist that loves to share all kinds of art-related skills with students. A graduate from Chicago Art Institute, Casey runs a studio just south of Whitehall year round, painting, drawing and even quilting. Color and texture are key components to her body of work as is observing nature in its abstract form.
COVID-19 Considerations:
Classes will be held outdoors in the grass portion of North Grove Brewers Biergarten. Students will be seated on either ends of the tables - 6 feet apart. Class capacity will be limited to 10 students. Each student will have their own supplies that will be sanitized before class. If throughout the class, students need additional paint and brushes, those will be distributed by ACWL-Nuveen staff. Students must wear masks, use the provided hand sanitizer, and abide by social distancing mandates.
All ACWL-Nuveen classes are made possible by grants from the Michigan Council for Arts & Cultural Affairs, the National Endowment for the Arts and the Nuveen Benevolent Trust.
