About the event

Middle and High School students are invited to the ACWL-Nuveen for Open Studio sessions on Wednesdays between 3:00 and 5:00, p.m. ACWL-Nuveen staff will be available to help students with art projects. Students are welcome to bring in projects they are already working on or just an idea for something new. They will be able to use the numerous supplies we have on hand, as well as receive help from ACWL-Nuveen Assistant Director Susan Wink.

Topics/Mediums we are able to assist students with:

- Drawing

- Painting – acrylic, watercolor

- Mixed Media

- Small scale sculpture techniques

- Fiber Arts

About the Facilitator:

Susan Wink has an extensive education background, teaching art to all ages in school and museum settings. A Michigan native, Susan lived in the high plains desert of Roswell, New Mexico for several years where she maintained a professional studio creating custom ceramic tile and designing and building community-based public art.

An important note: our Open Studio is designed for students to come in, explore our art supplies, try new things, and expand their creativity. It is also a great opportunity for friendly socialization! We ask that parents drop off their children then return to pick them up when open studio is finished or wait outside the classroom in the gallery. Space is very limited in the classroom and we need to prioritize that space for the students so they can have the best experience with their peers.

ACWL-Nuveen classes are supported in part by CatchMark Technologies, the Michigan Arts & Culture Council, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Cheryl Whelan Family and the Nuveen Benevolent Trust.
