About the event
In this 2-day class, students will first learn how to create their own custom watercolor paint sets using mini tins and tube watercolor paint. The instructor will lead the students in some color theory exercises and demo how to setup and use the mini tins while out sketching. Their individual mini tins will set-up overnight.
On the second day the students will learn how to set-up their own outdoor paint kit then the class will head outside to find places to sketch behind the ACWL-Nuveen on Hanson Hill overlooking the wetlands. Each student will work individually and will choose what they would like to sketch. The instructor will help guide each of the students on best painting practices to enhance their artwork.
About the Instructor:
Mary Jo (MJ) Ernst grew up in West Michigan and has been sketching her whole life. She uses all types of mediums in her artwork. Ink, especially solubles, is her preferred choice for quick sketching. Â Â Her sketch style is whimsical and impressionistic. MJ encourages anyone, all skill levels, to pick up a pen, pencil or brush to get started and make a mark!
