About the event

Before diving in, students will discuss what makes sculpture abstract and explore examples of abstract act, noticing what and how various materials are used.  Instuctor Casey Bemis will give a basic demonstration on how to 'weld' pieces together and then students will get it give it a go! Students will create their own 3D abstract sculpture - 12 inches or larger - using found materials, carboard, paper, and glue.

About the Instructor:

Casey Bemis has lived in the Whitehall area for 13 years now, working in her studio in the quiet woods just a few miles from Lake Michigan. Much of the work is inspired by nature, geometry and science. Utilizing her undergraduate degree in painting, she draws directly on sheets of metal to be etched and then made into unique jewelry. She also paints and finds some time to work on several novels.
