About the event

Students will learn about a new technique called repousse, the idea of creating texture in thin sheet metal out of aluminum or copper thin gauge. They will get to experiment with pattern-making to create a fun heart ornament that can be hung in the window or on a tree. Color will be added to the metal for a funky or distressed look in form of alcohol ink, markers or gilder's paste. The finished heart ornament will be 3-4 inches.

About the Instructor:

Casey Bemis has lived in the Whitehall area for over 10 years, working in her studio in the quiet woods just a few miles from Lake Michigan. Much of the work is inspired by nature, geometry and science. Utilizing her undergraduate degree in painting, she draws directly on sheets of metal to be etched and then made into unique jewelry.
