About the event
Join artist MJ Ernst to a few basic embroidery stitches as we all create an animal themed project. Students will use floss thread, cotton , a 5" embroidery hoop and an animal pattern to create a finished stitchery that can be hung on a wall. No sewing skill is required - beginners are welcome! Students will take home their 5" hoop project plus a needle and thread to continue creating at home.
About the Instructor:
Mary Jo (MJ) Ernst grew up in West Michigan and has been sketching her whole life. She owns and operates a custom dress shop in the Chicago area. She uses all types of mediums in her artwork. Ink, especially solubles, is her preferred choice for quick sketching. Her sketch style is whimsical and impressionistic. When visiting family in the West Michigan area you may see her out sketching local people and sites . MJ encourages anyone, all skill levels, to pick up a pen, pencil or brush to get started and make a mark!
