About the event
In this 2-session class, students will learn about the importance of recycling and discover ways to repurpose items instead of throwing them away! Lead by Rommyna, participants will learn how to make yarn from old t-shirts and how to finger crochet using their recycled yarn. Students will make a small succulent hanger that can also be used to hold other household items. A small flower pot will be included with your registration (a succulent is not included).
Students should bring 2-3 old, CLEAN t-shirts in the color(s) of their choice. If you don't have any old, clean t-shirts, please email ACWL-Nuveen Director Erin Peyer at nuveen@artswhitelake.org and she will secure some for you.
This class will meet twice: Thursday, October 21 and Thursday, October 28.
● Crocheting is good for mental health because it requires mindfulness. As you crochet, you need to pay attention to each stitch, the movement of your fingers, your breath, your stitch count.
●“When we practice mindfulness, our thoughts tune into what we’re sensing in the present moment rather than rehashing the past or imagining the future"
Class minimum: 4
