Portrait Sketch Party

Join MJ Ernst for a unique approach to portrait sketching - we will make it a party of sorts! Students will learn basic face proportions and some strategies to sketch a face in 10 minutes.

After instruction and demos, we will sit in a circle and sketch each other. By the end of the class you will have created portraits featuring every angle of the face.

This is a fast and fun class designed to help you loosen up with sketching portraits. Open to all skill levels. Materials will be provided, including a sketch book participants will be able to take home.

About the Instructor:

Mary Jo (MJ) Ernst grew up in West Michigan and has been sketching her whole life. She uses all types of mediums in her artwork. Ink, especially solubles, is her preferred choice for quick sketching.  Her sketch style is whimsical and impressionistic. MJ encourages anyone, all skill levels, to pick up a pen, pencil or brush to get started and make a mark!
