Pop Art Portrait
Time & Location
About the Event
Inspired by Pop Artist Andy Warhol’s graphic portraiture style students in this class will create a 16” x 20” acrylic painting. The portrait theme will coincide with Carolyn Carmel’s 101 Faces exhibition on display at the ACWL-Nuveen Gallery through January 31st.
Students who sign up for this class will need to submit a digital photo of the portrait they want to paint to email@example.com by January 20. Payment must also be made by this date. The image needs to be a high quality image - single portrait that displays shadows within the features of the face. A face forward image is most desirable. Images can be self-portraits, of a family member, celebrity - check out this link for ideas: www.artswhitelake.org/portrait-tips
This class is taught by Casey Bemis - teacher of our popular Pet Painting classes! Casey will transfer the main features of the digital portraits with pencil onto a 16” x 20” canvas for each student. In class the students will use this canvas and acrylic paint to create a stylized portrait using a gradient color palette - a graphic style that would meet Andy’s approval!
