About the event
Using non-traditional tools to interpret music, students will learn to paint with palette knives rather than brushes. In this two-session class, students will develop an understanding of texture, color, and shapes. In the first class, mark-making techniques will be explored while listening to various diverse samples of music. In the second class, students will create a finished painting inspired by a piece of music of their choosing.
Class minimum: 4
Class maximum: 10
About the Instructor:
Casey Bemis has lived in the Whitehall area for 13 years now, working in her studio in the quiet woods just a few miles from Lake Michigan. Much of the work is inspired by nature, geometry and science. Utilizing her undergraduate degree in painting, she draws directly on sheets of metal to be etched and then made into unique jewelry. She also paints and finds some time to work on several novels.
