About the event
Express yourself with Impasto! Learn how to build up layers of paint on canvas using acrylics mixed with matte medium and applied with a palette knife to create a unique flower-themed painting. Each student will receive one 10” x 20” canvas and will work directly from a still life set up in class or from their own reference photos. Instructor Casey Bemis will help students navigate the creation of a stunning impressionistic composition with lots of texture and color.
About the Instructor:
Casey Bemis is a multi-talented artist that loves to share all kinds of art-related skills with students. A graduate from Chicago Art Institute, Casey runs a studio just south of Whitehall year round, painting, drawing and even quilting. Color and texture are key components to her body of work as is observing nature in its abstract form.
COVID-19 Considerations:
Class capacity is 6 students. If we have full capacity, class will be held outdoors and students will have 6 feet between each of them. If we have 4 students or less, class will be held inside. Each student will have their own supplies that will be sanitized before class. Students should wear masks, use the provided hand sanitizer, and abide by social distancing mandates.
All classes are sponsored in part by grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs.
