Let loose in this painting class focused on exploratory methods of painting. Using a variety of materials, including brushes, textures, stamps, stencils, markers, and pastels, student will create a unique piece in their own voice. Throughout the class, we will discuss both abstract and non-objective styles of art. Final pieces will be done on a 16" x 20" wooden panel that will be ready to hang!

About the Instructor:

Since an early age Chelsea Kirksey has found art to be a lens through which to explore our relationships with the world, others, and ourselves. She holds a BFA in Art Education from Michigan State University and continues to teach community-based art in the Muskegon area. Her teaching is rooted in exploratory mindsets and encouraging her students to find their own artistic voice through the process

ACWL-Nuveen classes are supported in part by CatchMark Technologies, Michigan Arts & Culture Council, the National Endowment for the Arts and the Nuveen Benevolent Trust.
