About the event

Learn tips and tricks on how to amplify your hand drawn images and sketches by creating rich and high contrast drawings through the use of ink pens. If you have intermediate drawing skills – this class is for you!  Students will bring to class and draw from a nature-themed reference photo of their choice, suggestions would be animals, trees, plants, or a landscape. Instructor, Jessi Small will demonstrate and have students practice various ink shading skills and discuss the challenges of drawing with ink. She will then guide students on the completion of an expressive ink drawing that captures the essence of their selected image from nature.

Class minimum: 4

Class maximum: 6

About the Instructor:

Since a teenager, Jessi Leigh Small loved to sketch faces, hands, trees, and landscapes. She started her artist professional career drawing pastel portraits for Kaman's Art Shoppe. In 2018, she moved to Whitehall, Michigan and began building her dream of being a professional fine art artist and illustrator. In 2019, she illustrated a children's book, "Ellie's Wish", which is now sold at Barnes & Nobels and online on Amazon. She launched her online art business The Art of Jessi Leigh in August of 2020. Now Jessi Leigh loves spending time in her studio drawing and painting beautiful artworks of nature and animals for her Collectors and Instagram and Facebook Friends.

ACWL-Nuveen classes are supported in part by grants from the Michigan Arts & Culture Council, the National Endowment for the Arts and the Nuveen Benevolent Trust.
