Class Description
Ages 12-18 There are so many art materials, some traditional, some new. In this 2 session class we will explore several of them; how they’re used, what is unique about them, and how they can (or can’t) be mixed with others. Students will practice skills and leave with a finished abstract composition. In our first session we will focus on dry materials, such as traditional graphite pencil and wax based colored pencil. Students will explore techniques such as blending and shading, and sharpen their drawing skills. Work will begin on our final drawing. In our second session we will explore some liquid materials, such as ink and watercolor. Students will engage in experimentation, and learn how to combine materials. Work will continue to complete our abstract mixed material illustrations. Minimum: 4 Maximum: 8 About the Instructor: Laurel Geis has lived in the White Lake area for 29 years.
