It’s SUMMER – a great time to be outside, get creative, and capture the beauty and bounty of our West Michigan landscape! We encourage community members of all ages to share their outdoor impressions in the ACWL-Nuveen’s third annual “Expressions – en plein air” exhibition – August 4 – September 2. This exhibit not only gives ACWL-Nuveen students and instructors an opportunity to showcase their talent, it is also an open invitation to the White Lake and West Michigan community to display the creative ways they celebrate our natural environment. Best part – it is FREE and there are prizes! The only stipulation for this exhibit is that the artwork was originated and partially produced outdoors. It is ok to have fine-tuned or enhanced the work indoors.
We welcome artwork made from paint, drawing materials, fiber, clay, found beach treasures, and other mixed media. Have you have been inspired to write poetry, compose music, or make a video outdoors? We would love to see what inspires you! Prizes will be awarded in the following categories:
· ACWL-Nuveen Adult Award $100
· Adult Honorable Mention Art Supplies
· ACWL-Nuveen Youth $25
· Youth Honorable Mention Art Supplies

If you are looking for “plein air” inspiration and motivation with a small group of people sketching and drawing on location – we have spaces available in our July 21 offering - Art on the Farm. This session will take place at Lundell Farms located in North Muskegon and includes two sketching demos by Urban Sketchers West Michigan artists – Mary Jo Ernst and Ann Rusky, a yummy lunch catered by chef Rusty Morningstar from Bone Ends and plenty of time to be “free-range” sketching, painting, and creating in the Lundell’s beautiful farm environment.
