The Arts Council of White Lake – Nuveen Center is excited to announce a call for artists to submit work for the “ACWL-Nuveen Juried Exhibition – 2021” to be held March 18 – April 24. This show, formally known as “Change of Seasons” has received a name change to reflect a broader vision for the exhibit. We want to appeal to a wide spectrum of diverse artists creatively tackling a range of subjects and themes in a variety of mediums. This year the call has been expanded to include digital media. Although the name has changed the exhibit will still include adult and K-12 youth divisions with cash prizes awarded in both. Adult artists will be exhibited in the ACWL-Nuveen exhibit space and the youth artwork in our retail gallery. We feel both categories of this exhibit are vital as the ACWL-Nuveen is dedicated to accessibility and believes that creative expression is ageless.
2020 Winner, 'Party Favors' mixed media painting by Christy DeHoog Johnson
The juror for the 2021 exhibition will be Curator Courtney Jackson. Ms. Jackson received her B.S. in Art History from Kendall College of Art and Design with additional study at the l’Université Sorbonne, Paris and John Cabot University, Rome. While in Rome she gained curatorial experience working at the gallery PiazzadiaSpagna9. Ms. Jackson is currently the Curator of Education at the Muskegon Museum of Art where she manages targeted programming for rotating exhibitions and the permanent collection. She is also responsible for developing experiential art programming for multigenerational participants and maintaining positive community outreach.
To apply to the show, go to the ACWL-Nuveen website – https://www.artswhitelake.org/call-for-artists - The online portal guides artists through the application process and also includes a link for tips on taking good photographs of your artwork. Since this is a juried show, we encourage artist to check out these helpful guidelines to ensure that your artwork is represented positively for the juror to make her selection.
We look forward to a diverse and interesting exhibit this year - remember all art mediums are welcome and this year includes a call for digital media in both the adult and youth divisions.
