It is with mixed emotions that I announce my resignation from the role of Director at the Arts Council of White Lake- Nuveen. This decision didn’t come easy, and as I think back on the last five years I am grateful to be a part of such a passionate and dedicated organization.
Before graduating from college I put together my last exhibit titled “A Place of Growth”. The name was inspired by my work at the time which used live plants. What I didn’t realize is that the title reflected something much deeper. I was looking for my own place of growth.
I was seeking a place to grow, to be nurtured, and to learn. I found that at the ACWL-Nuveen. My simple call to volunteer became more than I ever imagined. The ACWL-Nuveen gave me a place to call home. It gave me a safety net to try new ideas and grow as a person. In many ways it had always been there. From a sixteen year old entering her first exhibit, the twenty two year old fresh graduate, and even now as a young professional launching into a completely new field it is my safety net. It is there to cheer, teach, and support to the best of its ability.
I’m beyond grateful for the individuals I have met along the way. I look forward to supporting the community in a different capacity with a new position with HealthWest. So, thank you! Thanks for each moment you have given me during my time with you.
The ACWL-Nuveen is at an exciting moment of growth themselves and I am sure of the great things to come. Now more than ever it needs the support of its community as they move forward to new beginnings. Consider sharing your time or resources to help the next generation of artists find a place to call home.
