Summer Art Camp: Recycled Finger Crochet
Time & Location
About the Event
Students will learn about the importance of recycling and discover ways to repurpose items instead of throwing them away! Participants will learn the basics of finger crochet, as well as how to make yarn from old t-shirts. Students will get the choice to make either a hot pad or bottle holder.
Students should bring 2-3 old, CLEAN t-shirts in the color(s) of their choice. If you don't have any old, clean t-shirts, please email ACWL-Nuveen Director Erin Peyer at firstname.lastname@example.org and she will secure some for you.
● Crocheting is good for mental health because it requires mindfulness. As you crochet, you need to pay attention to each stitch, the movement of your fingers, your breath, your stitch count.
●“When we practice mindfulness, our thoughts tune into what we’re sensing in the present moment rather than rehashing the past or imagining the future"
