LIVE WHITE LAKE: Photo Exhibit
January 10- January 31, 2017

How do you LIVE WHITE LAKE? Please join the City of Montague, City of Whitehall, White Lake Chamber of Commerce and the Arts Council of White Lake for a photography exhibit that displays how you LIVE WHITE LAKE. Three photos will be chosen and featured for the 2017 LIVE WHITE LAKE campaign.

Open entries will be taken in two categories: Youth (17 and under) and Adult (18+).  All photographs must be original.  Each artist is invited to submit up to 3 photographs, 5” x 7”.

The ACWL will provide black mats and reserves the right to refuse any pieces for any reason.  All photographs must remain on display for the duration of the exhibit.  All photos will be for sale for $15, with $10 being returned to the artist for each photo sold.

Many Miles: Gail Howarth
January 3- February 25, 2017

Gail’s Photographs demonstrate a unique viewpoint on everyday occurrences. She transforms roads, bikes, and cars into an ethereal moment captured in each photograph.

Change of Seasons
February 28- April 8, 2017

This annual juried art competition brings out the best of local youth and adult artwork. See what artists from your community have been working on in this special exhibition that kicks off our spring season. 

New Visions
April 11- May 27, 2017

Opening Reception: Thursday, April 13, 2017 5pm-7pm

Four local high schools will select two students from their graduating classes that have shown a passion and dedication for art during their school career. Learn about the artists of the future in this invitational exhibition that shows the work of our brightest young artists from Montague, Whitehall, North Muskegon, and Reeths-Puffer High School. 

Blue: Photography Exhibition
May 30- July 1, 2017

Opening Reception: Thursday, June 1, 2017 5pm-7pm

Blue is all around us, from the sky to our lake. Be inspired by the color that brings us so much life in this year’s photography exhibit. Submit your favorite photograph that pays homage to the color blue. 

Pottery Confessions
July 4- 29, 2017

Opening Reception: Thursday, July 6, 2017 5pm-7pm

Art can provide us with beauty or even inspiration in our daily life, but what role does functional art play? How does our lemonade pitcher or key bowl reflect our own stories? What secrets do these objects keep? Pottery confessions will display original and hand crafted pottery from our community members’ collections accompanied by a story of that piece and how it has had a significant role in their lives.  

Tales & Fables
August 1-September 2, 2017

Opening Reception: Thursday, August 3, 2017 5pm-7pm

Ten local artists were asked to create a new piece inspired by a tale of fable. Come experience a new outlook on the stories you know so well in each artist’s visual representation on display at the Nuveen Center. 

Flow: Mini Mukherjee
September 5-October 21, 2017

Opening Reception: Thursday, September 7, 2017 5pm-7pm

Mini Mukherjee presents a collection of metal paintings that explore concepts of creative flow. Her work dives into “the marriage between art and technology through the craft of metalworking, told through the perspective of a millennial woman of color.”
